Electrolysed Water Machines: What Filtration Claims Need to Show

Electrolysis and contaminant removal are different questions when comparing a household water machine.

Understand the system

EXCEL-FX uses a replaceable filter with an electrolysis unit. The IEC-8000 cartridge is a consumable for a compatible machine, not a stand-alone ioniser.

Ask for applicable testing

Claims that water is microbiologically safe, or that a machine removes heavy metals or organic pollutants, require testing applicable to the exact product, water conditions and maintenance state. Broad explanations of electrolysis are not enough.

Check your water and maintenance

Consult your local supplier’s current water report. Replacement timing depends on water use and operating conditions. Check the machine’s cumulative filter-use indicator and follow the model-specific maintenance instructions. Replacement filters are a consumable with an ongoing cost.
